It's Time to Fall Back ...

It's Time to Fall Back ...

Don't forget this Sunday its time to turn back the clocks an hour and grab yourself an extra hour in bed!

Why do we do this? British Summer Time was first introduced more than a century ago as part of the Summer Time Act 1916. The Summer Time Act came into effect following a campaign by builder William Willett, who proposed that the clocks go forward in spring and go back in winter so that people could save energy and spend more time outdoors during the day.

While British Summer Time was eventually established during the First World War, Willett wasn’t the first person to conceive the idea of altering time to preserve daylight. Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, wrote about the notion whilst in Paris in 1784. He suggested that if people got up earlier, when it was lighter, then it would save on candles!

So let's embrace winter, spending more time indoors and making our homes super cosy and warm! Now is a good time to invest in a pair of sheepskin slippers and keep them by the front door ready to greet you as you come home.  We all love toastie toes !!

With shorter days we tend to keep our log fires burning longer.   Keep your logs by the fire, see our range of storage and baskets,to keep your logs dry and ready to use.

Another idea is to keep a throw or blanket drapped across your sofa or chair, not only a stylish interior addition but always handy for that extra cosy layer.

& no afternoon or evening is complete without a cup of cocoa in your favourite mug!

Lastly, lets not forget our pets they too need somewhere to snuggle down and keep cosy, ideally 'pole position' in front of a blazing fire! Take a look at our pet beds for a few ideas!

Enjoy your lie-in!
